Rebrand, creative direction and communications
Formerly Synthetic GenomicsViridos.
Renaming a biotech company means changing everything at once.
The real problem
When Synthetic Genomics became Viridos, an algal biofuel company, the ask was a rebrand. The real need was making sure every single touchpoint changed in step, so the new name landed as one confident story instead of a patchwork.
What I noticed
A rebrand rarely fails on the logo. It fails in the gaps: the old email signature, the stale social profile, the files nobody can find.
The call I made
Run it as one coordinated launch with one point of contact. I took on client liaison and communications strategy myself, and built a small specialist freelance team around the pieces that needed a specialist.
What I built
I directed the rebrand end to end: hiring and managing the freelance team, acting as client liaison, and running communications strategy. The work covered logo refinement, a new website, social media strategy and setup, digital asset management, email signatures and a launch giveaway.
The lesson
A new name is only as strong as the most forgotten place it shows up.
